Mrs. Hilda Laverne Wine Moody

Hilda Laverne Wine Moody, age 69 from Centre, passed away Saturday, September 19th in Baton Rouge, LA.

Funeral services will be 11AM Wednesday, September 23rd at Perry Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Eddie Nation and Rev. Melvyn Salter officiating; burial will be 2:30 PM Wednesday in Hopewell Cemetery in Blount County. The family will receive friends from 9 until 11AM Wednesday.

Pallbearers include: Van Moody, Bennie Nicholson, George Wine, James Gilliland, Howard Hayes, Verbon Mize.

Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Christine Steed Sunday School Class.

Survivors include her husband, Charles R. Moody; brother, George Aubrey (Ann) Wine, Jr of Shreveport, LA; sister, Carol (Robert) Perrin of Remlap; special to her: Russell Perrin, Elizabeth Perrin (Alan) Simmons and Jeremiah, Lainey and Josiah Simmons.

Mrs. Moody was a native of Blount County, the daughter of the late Aubrey and Marion Hilda Churchill Wine and was a member of Centre First Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school for many years. She was a member of the WMU and its Round Table Group. She was one of the original members and current president of the Cherokee Medical Center Auxiliary. She was the president of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees chapter 1868 in Fort Payne and the Cherokee County Farmer’s Federation Women’s Committee.

Hilda was an avid supporter of Auburn football. She and her husband have been season ticket holders since 1964, missing very few games in 51 years. She has also attended all but one of the last 47 annual meetings of the National Association of County Agricultural Agents.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Hopewell Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery Fund in Blount County, the Centre First Baptist Church or the Charles R. Moody Youth Scholarship…in memory of Hilda Moody for whom the scholarship support award was named. The scholarship and support award are a project of the Alabama Association of County Agricultural Agents.
