Another round of flooding will be possible today in parts Alabama that are already waterlogged from days of rain. The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood watch for parts of north and central Alabama today. Forecasters said the possibility of heavy rain, teamed with already soggy ground and full creeks and rivers could make isolated flash flooding more likely. Parts of Alabama got more than 5 inches of rain in short order on Thursday, leading to flooding in parts of north and central Alabama.
There are two separate flash flood watches.
The flash flood watch for north Alabama covers north-central and northeast parts of the area, according to the weather service in Huntsville. It will be in effect from 10 a.m. until midnight. One to 2 additional inches of rain will be possible.
Another flash flood watch covers parts of central and east-central Alabama. It will be in effect from 10 a.m. through this evening, according to the weather service in Birmingham.
Forecasters there said heavy rain will again be possible this afternoon across parts of central Alabama.

The National Weather Service in Birmingham has issued a Flash Flood Watch for portions of central Alabama, east central Alabama, northeast Alabama, and southeast Alabama, including the following areas, in central Alabama, Autauga, Blount, Chilton, Coosa, Elmore, Jefferson, Lowndes, Montgomery, Shelby, St. Clair, and Talladega.
In east central Alabama, Calhoun, Chambers, Clay, Cleburne, Lee, Macon, Randolph, Russell, and Tallapoosa. In northeast Alabama, Cherokee and Etowah.
In southeast Alabama, Barbour, Bullock, and Pike.
From 10 AM CDT this morning through this evening heavy rainfall will likely develop again this afternoon across portions of Central Alabama. With already saturated ground in place any additional rain could result in localized flash flooding.
