Much Of The WEIS Radio Listening Area Is In A ‘Slight Risk’ Area For Severe Weather On Thursday Night

The National Weather Service is continuing to monitor a system that could bring the potential for severe weather to the area on Thursday.

Right now the primary impacts will include the threat for tornadoes and damaging winds up to 60 mph and 1-2″ inches of rainfall, though flooding issues should remain isolated and to low-lying or poor drainage areas.

The weather service says timing for the WEIS listening Thursday at 7:00 p.m. through Friday 1:00 a.m.

We will continue to monitor the latest forecasts from the National Weather Service and will provide frequent updates. As always be sure and have multiple ways to receive weather alerts such as a weather radio or the Code Red service offered by the Cherokee County Emergency Management Agency.

Keep your radio on WEIS throughout the evening on Thursday as we will break in when the threat for severe weather affects our area.

If and when a Tornado Watch is issued for our area, Cherokee County EMA will make appropriate arrangements to make sure storm shelters are available to those that need them.
