Multi-Agency Operation Leads To Drugs Arrests In Centre

GibbsHigginsArrestAccording to Centre Police Chief Kirk Blankenship, the Centre Police Dept, Leesburg Police and Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office conducted what is referred to as a “knock and talk” at a local residence in the Bay Springs Rd. Community resulting in two individuals being taken into custody on several narcotic offenses.

32 year old Kristen Higgins was charged with one count of the Unlawful Distribution of Controlled Substance and 30 year old Tyree Gibbs was charged with Unlawful Possession of Marijuana 1st Degree, Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance, Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia in addition to Unlawful Distribution of Controlled Substance.

After receiving several complaints and tips from the Bay Springs Rd. Community about possible illegal drug activity, Centre Police Department Narcotics Officers Matt Peek and Will Clark began the 3 month long investigation, on Thursday Law Enforcement Officers from Centre Police Dept., Leesburg Police Dept., Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office., and the State Probation Officer Caleb Courtney executed several warrants in the area where Higgins and Gibbs were apprehended swiftly and without incident.

During the search of the residence, officers discovered a quantity of Marijuana and Spice. The narcotics were packaged separately and readily available for distribution.

Chief Blankenship said that his officers conducted a very well organized investigation that resulted in a large quantity of narcotics being taken off of the streets.

The Centre Police Department Narcotics officers wish to thank the community for coming forwards with the information that led to these arrests. Chief Blankenship stated, “We want to stress to the people of the community of how important it is to get these people off of the streets, especially after repeated distributions have been done next to our schools”.

Centre Police Department wants to extend their gratitude towards Leesburg Police Department, Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office, and the State Probation and Parole for assisting in the execution of the warrants, and apprehension of these two subjects.
