New Cedar Bluff Town Council Member Sworn In On Monday, Tim Miller Fills Unexpired District 1 Term

District 1 Cedar Bluff Town Council Member Tim Miller (pictured above) was officially sworn in by Cherokee County Probate Judge Tim Burgess during the council’s regular meeting on Monday. Miller will be filling the unexpired term of former Council Member Lorrie Green who resigned last month after she moved from the state.

In other business, the council approved the minutes from last months meeting in addition to receiving monthly reports from Sgt. Jp Curry with the Cedar Bluff Police Department and Lt. Joey Weaver with the Cedar Bluff Fire Department. The council also received for review a copy of the monthly financial reports.

The council also adopted a resolution for a one time pay raise for all town employees for December and accepted the meeting and workshop calendar for 2018 in addition to the holiday schedule.

At the recommendation of Council Member Donald Sanders, the council has agreed to make necessary repairs to a section of Dykes Bridge Road located at the intersection of Money’s Bend Road at a cost of $6,066. These repairs were caused by heavy garbage trucks from Waste Management traveling on the road which has caused the road to collapse. The money will come from the recent sale of a surplussed garbage truck.

At the recommendation of Council Member Jerry Sprayberry the council will now require those attending conferences/conventions to have the approval of the Mayor and two additional council members before spending request is approved.
