New Filings in Floyd County RICO Case

There are now new court filings in the civil RICO case involving former Floyd County school system maintenance director Derry Richardson.  Prosecutors want new defendants added – including contractors – Johnson Controls Inc., Footprints of Life, and Southeastern Security Professionals, along with six individuals.

According to reports Richardson has also filed a motion asking a judge to unfreeze his 401k account from Johnson Controls Inc., where he worked before being employed by the school system.  Prosecutors have opposed the motion.

Richardson and nine others were arrested in June of last year (2016) in connection with an alleged scheme to bilk the school system out of, what has reportedly amounted to over four million dollars.

Indictments have not been returned and those allegedly involved remain free on bond.

Floyd County Police continue to investigate.
