New Study Links Pink Eye With Covid-19 in Children

A new study shows some children infected with COVID-19 are experiencing a variety of eye problems – including pink eye.  That study examined over 200 children between the ages of two and eleven, all of whom had tested positive for coronavirus.

While many of those with symptoms reported fever and/or cough, 49 – or roughly 23% –  showed “various ocular manifestations”, with the most common symptoms being listed as a conjunctival discharge – seen in more than half the children.

Children who had other symptoms such as a cough, were more likely to show conjunctivitis also known as pink eye.

Eye symptoms alone aren’t a likely sign of the virus – BUT, if a parent knows their child has been exposed OR they’re showing any other symptoms, it MAY be a good idea to have them tested, according to health experts.
