Northeast Alabama Sees Another Large Drug Bust

It seems northeast Alabama is seeing more and more in the way of major drug busts – with the latest taking place in Boaz where a weekend traffic stop netted several ounces of crystal meth and several thousand dollars in cash.

Police made a traffic stop on Highway 431 at around midnight on Saturday – and when the occupants inside the car couldn’t seem to keep their stories straight about where they were heading at that time of night they were asked to step out and speak with officers separately.

One of the occupants 42 year old Jason Lee Gilliam of Altoona was found to be in possession of a meth pipe.  Inside the vehicle, officers found 6.8 ounces of crystal methamphetamine in addition to $6,760 – pills and other illegal substances.   Gillian was charged with Trafficking Crystal Methamphetamine, Drug Possession and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia; 40 year old Sonya Ann Gibbs of Ft Payne was charged with Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Gillian was booked into jail with bond being set at $500,000 while bond for Gibbs was set at $500.
