UPDATED INFORMATION| Numerous Injuries Reported In Two Separate Cherokee County Accidents

Emergency crews responded to two multi-vehicle accidents involving injuries in Cherokee County on Saturday.

The first was reported just before 5:30 p.m. on Alabama Highway 9 South at County Road 18 in Ellisville. That accident involved three vehicles with at least two individuals reported as being injured.

That mishap involved a 2008 Toyota being driven by Zachary Nelson of Piedmont, a 2013 Hyundai driven by Tommy Wood of Piedmont and a third vehicle driven by Shiree Trammell also of Piedmont. Two passengers in the vehicle driven by Wood were listed as being injured.

The Ellisville Fire Department, Floyd EMS, Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office deputies, Rescue Squad personnel, Cherokee County EMA and Alabama Stare Troopers responded to the scene.

The second accident occurred just prior to 6:00 p.m. on Alabama Highway 9 North at the State Docks in Cedar Bluff and involved two vehicles.

That accident involved a 2003 Buick being driven by Kristen Higgins of Centre and a 2005 Ford driven by Jonathan Crim of Centre one person was treated at the scene and released and another person was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

Alabama Highway 9 at that location was completely shutdown for an extended period of time as First Responders work to treat patients and clear vehicles from the scene.

The Cedar Bluff Fire Department, Centre Police, Cherokee County EMA, Floyd EMS, Rescue Squad personnel and Alabama State Troopers responded to that scene.

Both accidents remain under investigation by Alabama State Troopers.
