Numerous Reports Of Trees And Power Lines Down As Storm Rumble Across Cherokee County On Thursday Afternoon

We received a number of reports of trees and power lines down across the Cherokee County area on Thursday afternoon as the result of strong thunderstorms that rumbled across the area.

Cherokee County Emergency Management reported  part of a building had been blown down near the muffler shop at Highway 411 and Old Highway 411 near the 411 Drive-In, trees were reported down on Highway 411 near Fairview Church, on Hale Drive in Leesburg, in the 300 block of County Road 265 in front of the 411 Drive-In, power lines and pole were reported down behind a house on King Street in Centre,  a tree was completely blocking the road in the 3700 block of Brown Street in Cedar Bluff, trees were reported down in the road on County Road 20 near the Power House in Leesburg, a tree was reported  in the road and on a house at the intersection of County Road 112 & 26 in the Bay Springs area, Cedar Street in Cedar Bluff, County 518 & 411 South in Leesburg, County Road 45 at Highway 411 north, trees and power lines were also reported down in the 4200 block of Cornwall Drive in Cedar Bluff.

in Collinsville, Highway 68 was shut down for an extended period of time after a vehicle struck a tree in the road causing a multi vehicle accident.

Fortunately, there were no injuries reported.
