October 23rd – 31st is “Red Ribbon Week” in schools across America – it’s the largest drug abuse prevention campaign in the U.S., targeting K-12 students.

Schools take part in many different ways including special programs, guest speakers, decorating the campus and designing different contests, all aimed at encouraging the students to make smart choices and go drug-free every day.

On Friday of last week, Cherokee Sheriff Jeff Shaver, Sand Rock Mayor Gene Farmer, and Sand Rock principal Ben East gathered to sign a Red Ribbon Week proclamation.
