One Arrested For Assault Following An Altercation Between Two Students At Cedar Bluff School

Officials are releasing few details regarding an altercation that occurred between two students at Cedar Bluff School on Thursday. 

Chief Deputy Josh Summerford told WEIS Radio News that deputies responded to Cedar Bluff High School in regards to an altercation. Deputies took one juvenile into custody and transported him to the Coosa Valley Youth Detention Center on the charge of Assault 2nd Degree.

We’ve been told that the victims injuries were minor and he is expected to return to school on Friday.

Superintendent of Education Mitchell Guice released a written statement that stated; “We have a lot of great students in our school system. However there are times when a student will make a terrible decision. When that happens, we will address the issue at the board level and if appropriate involve law enforcement and the courts. Student discipline issues cannot legally be discussed in or with the public.”

The incident remains under investigation.
