One Arrested Tuesday on Sex Offender Registration Violation and Drug Charges; Four Others on Controlled Substance Charges

A Centre man was charged with a violation of the Sex Offender Registration Notification Act (three counts) on Tuesday, in addition to Failure to Appear on two prior counts of the same charge.  Robert Merriel Dildine, age 55, was additionally charged with Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance the Unlawful Possession of Marijuana 2nd Degree and the Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia along with a violation of the Prohibition Law.

According to the list of Registered Sex Offenders residing in Cherokee County posted on the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office website, Dildine’s most recent address was at 8115 County Road 14 in Piedmont.  His charge, according to the site, was Rape 1st Degree. 

As of Wednesday morning, no bond had been set for Dildine.

Four other individuals were arrested on drug charges as well Tuesday, including Chadwick Scott Phillips, age 43 and Marvin Floyd Fortenberry, 50 – both of Piedmont – each charged with two counts of Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance, the Unlawful Possession of Marijuana 2nd Degree, Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Fleeing/Attempting to Elude and Tampering with Evidence;

Kenneth Derek Kennedy, age 47, also from Piedmont, charged with two counts of Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance, with Unlawful Possession of Marijuana 2nd Degree and the Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Jacob Austin Beck, age 22 of Centre was charged with the Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance, with Unlawful Possession of Marijuana 2nd Degree, the Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and violation of the Prohibition Law.

Bond for Phillips and Fortenberry has been set at $8,500 each – bond for Kennedy stands at $6,000 and Beck has been released after making bond of $4,000.
