One Confirmed Dead in Monday Night Shooting in Rome / UPDATED

One person is confirmed dead in a Monday night shooting in North Rome.

According to Assistant Rome City Police Chief Debbie Burnett, the victim was a young male, and the shooting occurred at around 7:00pm on Grady Avenue.  After officers arrived on the scene they found a black male juvenile on the ground suffering gunshot wounds. First aid was rendered to the victim but he was later pronounced deceased by the coroner.

Preliminary information indicates that the suspect is also a black juvenile male.

The names of those involved are not being released at this point as the investigation is in its early stages and involves juveniles. An autopsy will be performed by the GBI Medical Examiner’s Office in Decatur.
