One person is dead following a wreck involving an SUV and a tractor occurring Wednesday in DeKalb County.
The collision took place on Highway 11 just inside the Ft Payne city limits with the driver of the SUV, identified as Jim Chidester, being air-lifted by LifeFlight from the scene to Erlanger in Chattanooga. Meanwhile, the driver of the tractor was reportedly taken by ambulance to DeKalb Regional Medical Center, where he was treated and released. According to a report by the Southern Torch news source, when the wreck took place Chidester was experiencing medical problems and was on his way to see a doctor and according to family members was a diabetic.
