One Dead in House Fire in Sand Rock Community Early Wednesday Morning / UPDATED

A 75 year old woman died in a structure fire during the early morning hours of Wednesday on County Road 736 in the Sand Rock community.

The fire reportedly began around 2:30am and agencies from Cherokee and DeKalb counties responded to the scene.  Cherokee County Coroner Dr. Jeremy Deaton – who is working the case as a joint death investigation with DeKalb County Coroner Bruce Wilson, has informed WEIS Radio News that the victim has been identified as Wilma Green Dover.

The official cause of death was listed as smoke and soot inhalation. 

Fire departments from Sand Rock, Tucker’s Chapel, Leesburg and Dogtown all responded to the scene.

That blaze is being investigated by the State Fire Marshal’s Office.
