One Hospitalized with Charges Pending, One Jailed Following Altercation

Chattooga County Sheriff Mark Schrader said deputies were called to an address in Lyerly during in the early morning hours of Friday regarding an altercation that somehow started as an argument between a boyfriend and girlfriend over a dog.

The sheriff stated that two men and a woman went to the woman’s grandmother’s house in Lyerly.   She was invited into the grandmother’s residence however the two men were not – and they allegedly forced their way into the house. 

Details remain sketchy, but during the ensuing altercation one of the men was stabbed and one man was hit over the head with a skillet. 

The grandmother also received cuts from the fray.

Sheriff Schrader said that one of the men was transported to the hospital and will be facing charges after he is released – the other was arrested and booked into the Chattooga County Jail.

We’ll have more information, and the identities of the men involved, after the official report is released from the Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office.
