ABC/Byron Cohen(MALIBU, CA) — Back in the ’70s and ’80s, ABC aired Battle of the Network Stars, which pitted TV stars against one another in a variety of fun head-to-head games like Tug of War, Obstacle Course and Dunk Tank. Well, since everything else is coming back — from Roseanne to Twin Peaks to American Idol — ABC is bringing the battle back, too.
Starting June 29, 100 stars from 14 different TV and cable networks will face off against one another at the site of the original series: Pepperdine University in Malibu, California.
This time around, there are 20 teams competing against each other in separate episodes. The stars on each team have been grouped by theme: TV Kids, Cops, Lawyers, Sci-Fi/Fantasy, White House, TV sitcoms and more. Some of them are veterans of the original Battle of the Network Stars, which ran for 13 years on ABC starting in 1976.
The stars taking part are alumni of both current shows and classics, including Modern Family, Scandal, Melrose Place, Beverly Hills, 90210, The Goldbergs, How to Get Away with Murder, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, The Incredible Hulk, The West Wing, Dallas, CHiPs, Law & Order and many more.
