One Hurt in Accident Involving Two Log Trucks Just Outside of Piedmont Thursday Morning

One person was shaken up in an accident involving a pair of log trucks on a stretch of Highway 9 outside of Piedmont early Thursday morning.

According to the Piedmont Fire Department’s Facebook page, the wreck took place at around 5:30am about a mile north of the city limits, with one driver suffering what is being described as “minor injuries.”  Firefighters discovered fuel leaking from one of the tanks which was ruptured in the mishap – resulting in approximately 100 gallons of diesel making its way into a ditch by the roadside.

Measures were quickly taken to prevent any contamination of the nearby creek.

That wreck remains under investigation.
