One Injured in Two-Vehicle Collision on Tuesday Morning / UPDATED

One person was injured when his pickup was struck by an 18 wheeler on Tuesday morning in front of the old Pump House convenience store – located at the intersection of Alabama 9 and Highway 411 across from the Waffle King.

That collision occurred at approximately 10:20 when a Ford Ranger pickup being driven by Phillip Morgan, age 39 of Centre – was struck in the front end by a 2015 International Semi, being driven by Michael Gurley, Jr., of Metairie, Louisiana.  Morgan was taken by ambulance to an area hospital for treatment.  Centre Police and the Centre Fire Department, along with Cherokee EMS and the Cherokee County EMA responded to the scene.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation by the Centre Police Department.
