One Killed; One Air-Lifted Following Head-On Collision on I-59 Outside Ft Payne

A head-on collision on I-59 in Ft Payne early Sunday morning, resulted in one person being fatally injured and another being flown to an area trauma center for treatment,

Ft Payne Police Chief Randy Bynum stated the accident took place at approximately 5:05am and involved a 2015 Honda Civic, driven by 84 year old Richard Alyn Ciesco of a Statesboro, Georgia address and a 2011 Infiniti being driven by Brandi Wooten, age 32 of Southside.  According to Chief Bynum, the Ciesco vehicle was traveling northbound in the southbound lane of I-59 when the collision occurred.

Wooten was air-lifted to Erlanger Medical Center by Air-Evac; Ciesco was pronounced dead at the scene.

That accident remains under investigation by the Ft Payne Police Department.
