One Person Airlifted In Single Vehicle Accident On County Road 34

The driver of the vehicle was airlifted from the scene of a single vehicle accident occurring in the 2600 block of County Road 34 off of Highway 411 north on Friday night. According to reports the vehicle left the road and slammed into a tree.

According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency accident report the accident occurred at 6:52 p.m. involving a 2006 Dodge being driven by 52 year old Wilburn Rainey of Centre, according to state troopers Rainey was not wearing a seat-belt.

The Ellisville Fire Department, Cherokee EMS, Cherokee County Rescue personnel, Sheriff’s Office deputies and Alabama State Troopers responded to the scene. The Spring Creek Fire Department was also dispatched to assist with the landing zone at New Bethel Church. Rainey was treated at the scene by paramedics and then airlifted to an area trauma center, his condition is not known at this time.

The accident remains under investigation by state troopers.
