One Person Confirmed Dead Following A Two Vehicle Crash North Of Cedar Bluff

One person has been confirmed dead following a two car accident taking place on Alabama Highway 9 North near the intersection of Highway 35 in Cedar Bluff on Tuesday evening.

The accident occurred just before 7:00 p.m. when a pickup truck slammed into the rear of fully loaded log truck. According to Cherokee County Coroner Dr. Jeremy Deaton, a female in the truck was pronounced dead at the scene. Deaton said that she was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. The name of the victim has not been released at this time.

Traffic in that area was rerouted for an extended period of time as the investigation was being conducted and vehicles were removed from the roadway.

The Cedar Bluff Fire Department, Gaylesville Fire Department, Sheriff’s Office deputies, Alabama State Troopers, Floyd EMS, Rescue Squad personnel and the Cherokee County Coroner’s Office responded to the scene.
