One Person Dead Following Fiery Crash North of Centre on Sunday Morning / UPDATED

A Cherokee County teenager was fatally injured in a single-vehicle accident on County Road 45, during the early morning hours of Sunday. According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency accident report, the victim has been identified as 19 year old Spenser Bonds, from Centre.

The accident occurred at 4:45am approximately eleven miles east of Centre.

Emergency crews arrived on the scene to find the 1993 Ford on fire in a ditch, where it had crashed after leaving the roadway. Bonds was pronounced dead at the scene.

Reportedly, no one else was in the vehicle.

In addition to the coroner’s office, Alabama State Troopers are investigating.

The McCord’s Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched to extinguish the blaze, and assist with traffic.

The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office, Cherokee EMS, and the Cherokee County Rescue Squad provided assistance as well.
