One Person Injured After Dump Truck Overturns In Cedar Bluff / UPDATED

Additional information has been released regarding an accident Wednesday afternoon that involved a dump truck rolling over on Highway 68 in Cedar Bluff – dumping a load of gravel and blocking traffic for an extended period of time.

According to the driver, the cause was due to a mechanical malfunction.

According to the Cedar Bluff Police Department accident report, the 29 year old Gaylesville man who was behind the wheel of the truck, Michael Adam Sharp told officers that the right front tire “locked up”, causing him to run off the road on the right-hand side, and as he tried to steer back onto the road, the load shifted, causing the truck to roll over onto its side.

According to that accident report Sharp was taken to Redmond Regional Medical Center via Cherokee EMS following that mishap.  No additional information regarding the extent of his injuries was immediately available.

The 2008 Mack truck, belonging to B&J Concrete of Centre received substantial damage.  A Bobcat had to be brought in to remove the large amount of gravel before the roadway could be re-opened to traffic.

The accident took place just after 2:00pm on Highway 68 between County Roads 75 and 44.

Those responding to the scene included Cedar Bluff Police, members of the Cedar Bluff Fire Department and Cherokee EMS.
