One Person Injured In Two Car Crash On South River Street / UPDATED

One person was taken by EMS ground units to Cherokee Medical Center after being injured in a two vehicle accident on South River Street in front of the Cherokee County Courthouse in Centre on Monday afternoon.

Centre Police and Firefighters in addition to Cherokee EMS responded to the scene with the mishap involving a 2006 Ford Taurus and a 2003 Chevy Avalanche.

According to the Centre Police Department accident report, that crash took place at 4:04pm resulting in one person being injured.

The driver of the Ford was listed as 64 year old Mary Kathy Barmore while the driver of the Chevrolet was listed as 28 year old Jimmy Gossett – both residents of Centre.

Fortunately, both drivers escaped injury; however a passenger in the Ford was taken to the hospital for treatment of what appeared to be a neck injury, as she was placed in a collar by paramedics before being removed from the vehicle.

That accident remains under investigation by the Centre Police Department.
