One Person Killed In Accident At Highway 411 & Georgia Loop 1

One person was killed in a wreck involving a small SUV and a tractor trailer at Highway 411 and Georgia Loop 1.

According to Rome Police, at around 10:48 a.m. a 2001 Peterbilt Tractor Trailer was traveling west-bound on Hwy 411. The tractor trailer was attempting to travel straight thru the intersection on a green traffic signal.

A 2014 Honda CRV, driven by 78-year old Clayton Lee Green of Silver Creek, was traveling east-bound on Hwy 411. Green attempted to make a left turn to travel north-bound on Ga 1 Loop but failed to yield the right of way to the tractor trailer.

According to witness statements, the Honda initiated the left turn on a red traffic signal. According to Floyd County Coroner Barry Henderson, Green was pronounced dead on arrival at Floyd Medical Center at 11:33 a.m.

The driver of the tractor trailer, Bobby Rogers of Crossville Alabama, was not injured during the incident. No charges are expected at this time.
