The Northwest Georgia Joint Development Authority is now working with Chattooga County officials to assist the soon-to-be displaced workers from the Showa Glove Mill located in Menlo.  

Workers at the 70 year old mill were recently informed production at the facility is going to be coming to an end.  That move will leave around 80 workers without a job.

Spencer Hogg, who is the Project Manager for the Northwest Georgia JDA, told media outlets that they are coordinating with the Georgia Department of Labor, Chattooga County Chamber of Commerce, City of Menlo, and Chattooga County Commissioner’s Office to make sure affected workers have the resources they need to find new jobs.  Senator Jeff Mullis, who serves as President and CEO of the JDA, stated “My office and the Northwest Georgia Joint Development Authority want to serve as a resource to all of those affected by the news (from Showa).”

The Northwest Georgia Joint Development Authority said as soon as a date is set for a job fair for Showa workers, they will make an announcement with all the details.
