Over Two Grams of Heroin Seized in Last Few Weeks In DeKalb County

Over the last few weeks, 21 have been arrested and over two grams of heroin has been taken off the streets.

On Thursday, November 26, deputies conducted a traffic stop on County Road 55 on Lookout Mountain.  During the traffic stop, deputies found methamphetamine, marijuana and drug paraphernalia.  Hannah Elizabeth Cook (33 of Fort Payne) was charged with Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance, Unlawful Possession of Marijuana 2nd and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. 

On Saturday, November 28, deputies conducted a traffic stop on Hwy 68 in Crossville.  During the traffic stop, Drug Task Force was called in by deputies.  Methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia were found.  Charles Blake Tims (27 of Collinsville) was charged with Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance.

On Tuesday, December 1, ALEA attempted to conduct a traffic stop on I-59.  The induvial failed to stop, leading officers on a pursuit.  Eventually the suspect exited the freeway onto Glenn Blvd in Fort Payne.  The pursuit continued through Fort Payne until he got back onto I-59 heading South.   He was apprehended around the 214-mile marker.  Jacoriun Devorie Garrett (24 of Gadsden) was charged with Reckless Endangerment, Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance, Unlawful Possession of Marijuana 2nd, Tampering with Physical Evidence and Attempt to Elude.  Synthetic marijuana and marijuana were found.

On Friday, December 4, Andy Dion McSpadden (47 of Fort Payne) was arrested on Williams Avenue in Fort Payne after Narcotics Agents observed him in what was believed to be a drug transaction.  Agents then made contact with McSpadden and found him to be in possession with methamphetamine, synthetic marijuana and drug paraphernalia.  McSpadden was charged with Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance (x2), Unlawful Possession of Marijuana 2nd and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.  

On Saturday, December 5, Scotty Brian Hodge (29 of Rainsville) was arrested during a traffic stop on County Road 47 in Powell.  During the stop, approximately 1.5 grams of heroin and assorted drug paraphernalia was found.  DeKalb County Narcotics Unit assisted in this arrest.  Hodge was charged with Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

On Tuesday, December 8, narcotics agents conducted a search at a residence on Scenic Road in Fort Payne, seizing around a gram of heroinMilton Hulsey (65 of Fort Payne) was charged with Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.  On an unrelated incident, on the same day, Michael Brandon Lambert (29 of Bryant), Brent Cagle Wells (43 of Ider) and Timothy Neil Wells (45 of Rainsville) were arrested at a residence on Newman Drive in Sylvania after receiving several complaints about drug activity in the area.  Drug Paraphernalia was found and all three were charged with Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.  Sylvania Police Department assisted in the arrests.  Also, on Tuesday, DeKalb County Deputies made a traffic stop on County Road 34 in the Crossville area.  During the stop deputies found methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.  Brittni Lumpkin (27 of Crossville) was charged with Unlawful Possession of Drug ParaphernaliaMarty Ray Smith (44 of Crossville) was a passenger in the vehicle and arrested when deputies found that he was wanted on outstanding warrants of Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance

On Wednesday, December 9, Dehlia McSpadden (46 of Valley Head) was arrested at a residence on County Road 611 in the Hammondville area, and charged with Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance.  During the search, agents found synthetic marijuana and drug paraphernalia.  Also arrested on outstanding warrants of Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia were Kyle Andrew Sewell (31 of Trenton, GA) and Joey Shane Wooten (49 of Rainsville).  Christopher Michael Woodle (32 of grove Oak) was also arrested and charged with Failure to Appear.

On Thursday, December 10, Jordan Tyler Wilson (29 of Fort Payne), Misty Dawn Moody (46 of Scottsboro) and Derrick Lane Moody (28 of Fyffe) was arrested during a traffic stop on Glenn Blvd S, in Fort Payne.  Heroin was found during the search of the vehicle.  All three were charged with Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

On Friday, December 11, agents received several complaints of drug use at a residence on Lyons Road in Hammondville.  Arriving at the residence, agents saw Terry Leonard Holcomb (59 of Chattanooga, TN) run into the residence.  Upon entering, agents witnessed Holcomb attempting to destroy evidence.  Synthetic marijuana was found during the search.   Holcomb was arrested and charged with Tampering with Physical Evidence.  Also arrested and charged with Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia was Ricky Lionel Rogers (37 of Valley Head).  On the same day, on an unrelated call, agents had received information about drug activity at Ramblewood Apartments in Fort Payne.  During the search, marijuana was found.  Talisa Marie Smith (27 of Gadsden) was charged with Unlawful Possession of Marijuana 2nd and Unlawful Possession of Drug ParaphernaliaSmith also had a small child with her in which DHR was called in to take care of. 

DeKalb County Sheriff Nick Welden said of the incident: “This is definitely some GREAT work that took tough, long hours being put in from our deputies, DTF and surrounding agencies from one end of our county to the other.  Often the hard work goes unnoticed.  The public doesn’t realize what all is lurking just down the road, but this definitely shows who is out and about doing their best to protect our kids from the poison that’s out there.  It’s sad when you see such drugs as heroin surfacing in our communities and county but knowing the caliber of men and women we have in DeKalb County who wear that heavy badge are leading the front line battle against drugs, is definitely reassuring in my eyes.  Please keep these men and women in your prayers.  They all need all the prayers they can get and the (Whole Armor of GOD) for what they are up against.”
