An overnight fire that destroyed an abandoned home and heavily damaged two others in Cedar Bluff on Tuesday is currently under investigation.

Firefighters were dispatched to the scene at around 11:00 p.m. on Main Street only few feet from the Cedar Bluff Fire Station after a firefighter on his way to work noticed the blaze and radioed 9-1-1.

Units from the Cedar Bluff, Centre and Gaylesville Departments responded and worked throughout the early morning hours on Wednesday extinguishing the blaze.

The fire completely destroyed a large abandoned home and damaged two neighboring mobile homes, fortunately one of the mobile homes was vacant and the resident of the other was not at home.

Cedar Bluff Police Chief Steve Walden tells WEIS Radio News that the State Fire Marshal’s Office has been contacted and a full scale investigation will be conducted.
