A 9-1-1 call reporting a pedestrian being struck by a car in front of the Peoples Bank branch on the Chesnut Bypass in Centre went out at 9:00am Tuesday.
Emergency personnel responded to the scene immediately and treated an elderly victim for what appeared to be possibly a broken foot or ankle.
Centre Police Chief Kirk Blankenship told WEIS Radio the woman was being transported to the hospital to be checked out. Chief Blankenship said the victim – who is a resident of Pine View Crossing Apartments – was injured while attempting to cross the road after returning from shopping at a nearby store.
