On Monday night at approximately 8:30 pm, Deputies and Investigators were dispatched to 2506 County Road 20 in Skirum (near Dawson) regarding a possible shooting.

Upon arrival, a male was found deceased at the scene. The decedent has been identified as Jeremy Heath Perry (33 of Geraldine).

The shooting is currently under investigation. We’ll update the public once the investigation is complete.

DeKalb County Sheriff Nick Welden said of the incident: “Our thoughts and prayers go out to all families involved. We ask that the public do the same during this difficult time.”

“I also ask that the public be patient with the process. Information must be limited until the investigation is complete. We owe these families privacy and due-diligence through the course of this investigation,” he said.
