Oxford Police say they now have a “person of interest” in custody – in connection with two deaths occurring at the Super 8 Motel off Alabama 21 on Friday night.

21 year old Jamie Edgar Gomez, of Oxford, has been charged with Tampering with Physical Evidence and with Unlawful Possession of Marijuana.

He was arrested just after 1:30 Saturday afternoon and taken into custody without incident – he is reportedly “cooperating with authorities” at this time and is being held in the Oxford Detention Center.

24 year old Cordeira Romye Maxwell of Ohatchee, and 23 year old Misty Renea Lopez from Oxford – were pronounced dead at the scene at 11:00pm Friday at the motel near I-20; the two were found by an acquaintance who immediately called police.

Investigators aren’t saying how the two were killed.
