It was a relatively brief meeting of the Piedmont City Council on Tuesday, which saw a few routine agenda items all being unanimously approved by city officials.
A Christmas bonus was approved for Piedmont city employees, totaling more than $12,000. The council agreed to give each employee a longevity-based bonus staring at $50 plus an additional $10 for each year of employment.
Kathy Word was appointed to serve on the city’s library board, while Shelia Cochran was reappointed to the board.
The council approved Brandon Moore’s request to hold a youth rally in front of his downtown business, Elevated Grounds, on Saturday, December 7th, at 3pm.
Bills for payment were approved in the amount of $499,846.54.
Mayor Bill Baker reminded those in attendance that the local Ministerial Association will conduct the city’s tree lighting ceremony, set for 5pm on Sunday, December 1st, 5pm. Then, on Monday, December 2nd, the city will hold its annual Christmas parade beginning at 6pm in downtown Piedmont.
The next regular Piedmont City Council Meeting is scheduled for December 3rd, immediately following the work session, which is set for 5:30pm.
