Tuesday night’s meeting of the Piedmont City Council featured a relatively short agenda.
The council unanimously voted to seek legal action concerning the constant need to repair a city garbage truck that is only four years old.
Bills for payment were approved in the amount of $193,738.67 in addition to a payroll amount of $121,377.80 for a total of $315,116.47.
The council agreed to demolish a Centre Avenue property, which had been declared a public nuisance in the previous meeting.
Also, the council briefly considered amending next year’s budget to allow for travel to the 2015 Alabama League of Municipalities in May, but ultimately decided in a 4 to 3 vote that the $6,000 to $7,000 price tag would be too much. Baker felt that it would not be the right thing to do considering that city employees will not receive their yearly raises.
The next regular Piedmont City Council Meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, December 16th, at 6 pm.
