Piedmont Police Chief Freddie Norton says that Piedmont City Councilman Ben Keller was arrested Jan. 12 on a charge of harassment, Chief Norton told WEIS Radio News that 64 year old Ben Keller was booked at the city jail and posted a $500; his court date is set for 9 a.m. on March 15.

The arrest was made two days after the victim of the alleged harassment signed a warrant. An incident report filed with the Police Department shows the alleged victim being a 48-year-old woman.

The report indicates the alleged harassment occurred at around 5 p.m. Jan. 10 at an address listed as the Country Corner convenience store. Norton declined to provide details of what the woman alleged.

Following Tuesday night’s City Council meeting, Keller said that he is innocent of the charge.

Keller said “After this is all over, I’m suing her for scandalizing my name and running my blood pressure up.” Keller is into his fourth year of his first term on the council. Online court records show he has no prior criminal record.
