It was a short city council meeting on election night in Piedmont.
Council Member Doug Dickeson proposed that the city establish March 5th as Officer Blue Day. Officer Kevin Dale Blue, who served 6 years in the Piedmont Police Department, passed away recently after a long battle with cancer. Dickeson said that the date of March 5th was chosen in reference to Officer Blue’s badge number, 305. City Clerk Michelle Franklin said an official proclamation would be drawn up and presented at a future council meeting.
In other business, the city’s budget for the 2018-19 fiscal year was passed unanimously.
Bills for payment were approved in the amount of $672,663.77.
City officials announced that the city’s annual Christmas Parade is set for Tuesday, December 4th. The council meeting originally scheduled for that night has been moved to Tuesday, December 11th.
The next regular Piedmont City Council Meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, November 20th, following the work session, which is set for 5:30pm.
