Piedmont Man Arrested After Stealing A Vehicle And Leading Police On A Pursuit

PhillipDewayeHillAccording to Piedmont Police Chief Freddie Norton a Piedmont resident is behind bars after eluding officers in a stolen vehicle and stealing a second vehicle in the process at around 1:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Alabama State Troopers attempted to stop a stolen Toyota truck from White Plains on Highway 9 toward Piedmont when the driver refused to stop.

That  chase ended on South 5th Ave. in Piedmont where the suspect then stole  a Ford F150 and again attempted to elude officers. That chase ended on Cherokee County Rd 2. after officers from the Piedmont Police Department, the Cherokee County and  Calhoun County Sheriff’s Departments and the U.S. Marshals were called in to assist.

Following a search which lasted several hours officers left the area at returned at around 4 o’clock, Chief Norton said they began receiving calls of a suspicious male on Shady Grove Rd. and that’s where they located 30 year old Phillip Dewayne Hill walking down the road, Hill ran into the woods again and following a search lasting about 45 minutes to an hour, Hill was located about 50 yards off the road laying down.

He only had one felony warrant at the time of his arrest but is additionally being charged with Theft of Property 1st of a Motor Vehicle.
