Piedmont Man Charged With Murder In Stabbing Death

A Piedmont man charged with murder in the stabbing death of a 39-year-old man was free on bond Monday.

Piedmont Police Chief Freddie Norton told WEIS Radio News that 19 year old William Timothy Shook allegedly stabbed Piedmont resident Justin Carl Branum outside of his home on Old Ladiga Road on Friday night.

Norton told WEIS Radio News on Tuesday that Branum and Shook lived together at the house, but declined to say what led to the stabbing

According to Assistant Calhoun County Corner Jay Bowden, Branum was pronounced dead at Jacksonville Medical Center from multiple stab wounds at 1 a.m. Saturday.

Shook was taken into custody when Branum was taken to the hospital, and was arrested at 7:33 a.m Saturday after a police investigation. He was later taken to Calhoun County Jail where he was released on a $60,000 bond.
