During Piedmont’s recent city council meeting, Parks and Recreation Director Jeff Formby informed the council of several steps taken by the department to help slow the spread of the current coronavirus outbreak, following recent recommendations from state health officials:
-Youth baseball and softball has been postponed. This includes all practices; all city ball fields are closed.
-The Clyde H. Pike Civic Center will now close at 7pm, Monday through Thursday; the gym is closed to the public. Many classes held at the civic center, including gymnastics and senior classes are postponed.
-The upcoming Easter egg hunt has been postponed.
-The bike race set for April 19th has been rescheduled for September 20th.

Also during the meeting, city officials announced that all children’s activities at the Piedmont Public Library, out of town public transportation, and census training have all been suspended. Also, the city’s utilities offices are now operating drive through operations only.
