Piedmont Firefighters responded to a structure fire in the 1400 block of Shady Grove Road just after 8:00 Friday night.
According to Piedmont Fire Chief Mike Ledbetter the first Engine Company arrived on the scene within four minutes of the initial call to find the one story brick home fully engulfed in flames – Chief Ledbetter says that the home was a total loss and that the cause of the fire remains under investigation, the owner of the residence was not at home at the time of the fire and there were no injuries
Firefighters battled heavy flames and gusty winds while protecting a nearby propane tank, camper and wooded area.
Ledbetter said that the Spring Garden Fire Department was also dispatched to provide additional man power.
