Piedmont Woman Charged with Animal Cruelty

A Piedmont woman has been arrested on animal cruelty charges.

The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office received several complaints regarding a possible case of neglect involving a horse at a residence on Highway 9 near Goshen on Thursday – and an investigation into the matter resulted in the arrest of 55 year old Karen Wynette Blair, who was booked into jail just prior to 12:00 noon that day.  Blair currently remains in the Cherokee County Detention Center awaiting a bond hearing.

Sheriff’s Office Deputies and Cherokee County Animal Control took possession of that horse in order to provide proper care for the animal.

No additional information is being released at this time.
