Piedmont’s Mighty Bulldogs Get Close Win To Head To Regional Finals

Piedmont finds themselves one step closer to an opportunity to advance to Birmingham after a close bit of victorious basketball action on Monday night at JSU’s Pete Mathews Coliseum.

The #9 ranked Bulldogs (23-5) dealt with a close and quick game against #6 Hanceville’s boys (23-7) in Jacksonville, and when all was said and done it was Piedmont winning by a final score of 59-48. Statistically for Piedmont, they had a good pair of players leading the way for them: Alex Odam finished off the game with a final stat line of 21 points off 5-13 shooting (2-5 from 3 and 9-10 from the free throw line), 5 rebounds (1 offense, 4 defense), and 5 assists; Silas Thompson meanwhile added 16 points off 7-11 shooting (1-2 from 3, 1-1 FTs), 5 rebounds (3 offensive, 2 defensive), and 1 assist. The win advances Piedmont to the 3A Boys Northeast Regional Championship game to take on the winner of #1 Plainview vs Fultondale, with that championship game being on Wednesday, February 20th and 5:45 PM.

Congrats to the Piedmont Bulldogs for staying alive, and we are looking forward to being with them the rest of the way heading to Wednesday’s Northeast Regional Championship game, and hopefully beyond towards Birmingham and the BJCC Legacy Arena.
