Plainview baseball rallies past Sand Rock

SAND ROCK – The Plainview Bears rallied for a pair of runs in the top of the seventh inning to take a 9-7 baseball win at Sand Rock on Monday.

Cade Ballenger led the Wildcats at the plate by going 3-for-4 with a double, a run and a RBI. Jacob Cornejo doubled, scored a run and had two RBIs. Brian Giles contributed a double and scored two runs. Logan Wood also doubled. Slade St. Clair had a hit, a walk and a RBI. Austin Yoder posted a hit and drove in a run. Ethan Clanton and Olin Pruitt both had a hit and scored a run. Bradley Jackson tallied a hit. Trace Shubert and Sloan Wood both scored a run.

Giles suffered the loss in relief of Jackson. Giles tossed two innings of two-hit ball giving up two runs (neither earned) on two hits with a strikeout. Jackson pitched five innings, scattering five earned runs on seven hits with two walks and a strikeout.

Sand Rock begins an area series at Spring Garden on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.
