Playground Equipment Fire at GameTime of Ft Payne on Wednesday

A Wednesday fire on the property of GameTime in Ft Payne may have been started by the heat of the sun as it was magnified through some clear plastic that was being stored in a lot at the facility; that, according to the Ft Payne Fire Department.

Ft Payne Fire Chief Ron Saferite:

Saferite said the huge amount of smoke seen billowing up from the property as they left the fire hall was actually enough to make it appear as though the building itself may have been ablaze, fortunately however that wasn’t the case and we asked what the smoke was coming from:

Fortunately, the building was not damaged from the fire.

Reportedly, several GameTime employees helped out by using forklifts to move some of the playground equipment stored on the lot.

Damage could reportedly run as high as six figures.

GameTime is a well-known maker of outdoor fitness products and playground equipment –  located on Highway 11 on the south end of Ft Payne.
