Police, Fire & EMA Officials Respond To An 18 Wheeler Accident On West Main Street In Centre Sunday Morning

The Centre Police, Centre Fire Department and Cherokee County EMA responded to an accident involving a tractor trailer Sunday morning at approximately 1:50 a.m. in the parking lot of the old Ray’s Auto Sales on West Main St beside Sonic.

The 18 wheeler left the bypass and came to rest just inches from the building, approximately 12-15 gallons of motor oil was spilled. According to reports the big rig was hauling a large load of carpet.

The driver of the truck was transported to Floyd Medical Center.

The scene was cleaned up by Centre Fire and Cherokee Co. EMA personnel along with assistance from Fagan’s Wrecker Service.
