Post Game Brawl Between Coaches Leads To Investigation and Suspension

Cullman Defensive Coordinator Matt Hopper

Well, for some people it’s apparently a case of “Do as I say – not as I do”, when it comes to good sportsmanship.

People across the state and beyond, are wondering just how things got so out of hand following a game between Walker and Cullman high schools Friday night (August 30th).

There was a post-game brawl between coaches that left the Cullman Defensive Coordinator Matt Hopper – with a bloody face and a ripped shirt.

According to the Daily Mountain Eagle’s Facebook page Walker Head Coach John Holladay has been placed on administrative leave by the Jasper Board of Education – following the incident.

The AHSAA Executive Director has confirmed that the governing body will be investigating that matter – and the Cullman Times reported that officials will be meeting in Montgomery sometime today (Tuesday, September 3rd).

There’s no indication that any players were involved in the altercation.
