Stormfront Leaves Downed Trees and Multiple Power Outages in its Wake Thursday Afternoon

Some strong storms rumbled through Cherokee County Thursday afternoon leaving behind a number of downed trees across the area; Cherokee Electric Co-op was kept hard at work repairing damage to lines, as reports of power outages popped up all across the area during those storms.  Local firefighters and other emergency crews were also out clearing trees off the roadways across the county.

Severe weather may have also played a role in a serious accident which claimed the lives of two people in DeKalb County on Thursday afternoon when two vehicles reportedly collided on Highway 35 in Rainsville during the height of the storm.

Meanwhile across the state line, northwest Georgia experienced much the same, with trees being blown down leading to multiple power outages across neighboring Chattooga County.  Power lines were down across the road on Highway 100 in Summerville near the Mohawk plant, and a tree reportedly fell across a car on Northwest Congress Street in Summerville.
