Presentation on Cherokee County’s “Stepping Up” Initiative Set for Monday, April 8th

The Coalition of Community Services/Cherokee County will hold a meeting on Monday, April 8th, during which Sam Griggs (LBSW) will give a presentation on Cherokee County’s Stepping Up program.

Griggs has been working since November inside the Cherokee County Detention Center to evaluate every arrestee or potential arrestee that comes into the jail for mental illness and substance abuse problems. He then works with partner agencies and community services of CED Mental Health to get treatment and services in place, reducing the amount of time a person is in the jail and helping them towards recovery.

Coalition Meeting begins at 12:00pm, presentation is scheduled for 12:30pm
