Probate Judge Kirk Day Discusses Tuesday’s Special Election

Alabama voters will be going to the polls on Tuesday (September 26th) to determine who’ll be the Republican nominee for the Senate seat currently held by Luther Strange and there’s been a bit of confusion surrounding some the rules in the run-off election.

Cherokee County Probate Judge and County Commission Chairman Kirk Day stopped by the WEIS Radio studios on Monday morning to discuss that Alabama Statewide Special Election – and hopefully clear up any questions voters may have.

Luther Strange served as 47th Attorney General of Alabama, from 2011 to 2017; however –  when Senator Jeff Sessions was appointed by President Donald Trump as Attorney General of the United States, Strange was appointed by then-Governor Robert Bentley to fill the seat previously held by Sessions.

Strange is facing Former Alabama Supreme Court Chief Justice Roy Moore in Tuesday’s run-off – with the winner facing former U.S. Attorney Doug Jones in the December 12th General Election.

Remember, voters in Alabama must show a valid form of ID such as a State Driver’s License – Alabama Photo Voter ID Card – a Valid Passport – a Student Photo ID – a Military of Tribal Photo ID – a State, County or Municipal Employee Photo ID Card.

Polls will be open from 7:00am – 7:00pm.
